Deepworld Launches Kickstarter Project To Fund A Mac Beta

When I first met the guys working on Deepworld, which is a 2D Sandbox-style building game that is similar to Minecraft, at GDC in March, I informed them that Deepworld would be more than they anticipated. Although they have years of experience in developing servers and software operating a huge game like Deepworld will require a significant investment. They seem to have come to an agreement. The game has spawned an Kickstarter project to try and raise some funds for servers and development.



The group is offering a variety of prizes to supporters which include your own personal servers and worlds, art books and other swag, as well as the possibility of winning your own items, your name or even images included in the game itself. Teamextrememc minecraft server The goal is to raise US$20,000 all in all and at the time of writing, the group has raised around $4,000. They are planning to make the project a full-time occupation and this money will enable them to do this.



I hope they have a great time. Deepworld looks fantastic and I'm with you when I first was introduced to it. I believe that the Mac (and iOS) would be greatly benefited by games like this.
