Minecraft 1.19 launches today, loading up the Wild Update's new mobs, biomes, and other technical improvements. This is the final update of (almost) all the new features first introduced to players during Minecraft Live in 2020 and the final of three major updates.

As usual, there are no secrets that are hidden on launch day, Agnes Larsson, Minecraft game director and Ulraf Vaknin, Minecraft's developer assure me. Mojang is as dedicated to player feedback as ever, or else why on earth bother with snapshot builds, release candidate builds, and betas? The developers also talked through some of the changes that 1.19 was undergoing following the first hands-on experience of players.

The Wardens, who are dangerous might have changed the most during the course of development. Vaknin states, "That was a place we looked to both our technical and challenge players for feedback." When I first began playing around with the Wardens in their initial image from March, they were scary already. They made a very intense heartbeat noise when agitated and roared at me, and obliterated every poor chicken I spawned in their path to distract them.

They now have a sonic assault as well as a ranged power emanating out of their chests to deal avec players who were able to cleverly creep out of their long arms reach. Based on feedback from Minecraft players who enjoy the redstone tech aspect of Minecraft, the Skulk, the new Warden summoning blocks, also got a new design.

Minecraft update: What's new? Minecraft skins (opens new tab). New looks Minecraft mods. Beyond the standard Minecraft shaders. Spotlight Minecraft seeds. Fresh new worlds Minecraft texture pack. Pixelated Minecraft servers. All cheats.

Vaknin says, "It's quite technical." Just Another Wordpress Site He then explains that the Skulk sensors stopped registering the first sound that is in the code and now respond to the nearest sound. "We looked at some of the devices players tried to make and they didn’t work due to some glitches in the code. We adjusted it to feel more intuitive."

Feedback is also continuing to have a huge influence on ideas that Mojang is able to move away from. In the months leading up to the Wild Update, fireflies, originally pitched as frog food for Minecraft Live 2020, were a surprising topic of contention. A recent Q&A video was titled "What did fireflies do to Minecraft 1.19?"

Anna Lundgren, the producer of that video, explained that players had pointed to how fireflies can cause poisoning in Frogs. Larsson and Vaknin explained that it wasn't just the players who signaled the alarm. "I got reached out to by pet shop owners who told me that there was an issue due to people not being educated on this and there are memes that talk about fireflies eating frogs," Vaknin says. "So people have already made this mistake and even if Minecraft amplifies it that only makes it worse."

Larsson says, "We reach millions," "And that should come with an enormous responsibility. We were aware that the release of a feature, such as fireflies that can be poisonous for frogs and having the frogs consume them, could lead to people killing real frogs.

We have millions of players, and that should be a source for great responsibility.

My instinct is to support developers who change their minds about in-development features for just about any reason however Larsson's more measured explanation is probably the more sensible one. Minecraft has been more than a game for years in the present, and is now advertising itself as an educational tool too. Mojang needs to consider the role of Minecraft as an educational and entertainment tool for its huge audience of young children.

Without fireflies acting as frog food Larsson says that the scope of the new bugs was vastly smaller. Mojang decided to eliminate them entirely for now and move them back to the grand idea catalogue, and focus on the quality of other features in the pipeline.

Vaknin is thrilled to see new Allay friends flying through houses and buildings. Larsson is an Ally player who is truly a friend of mine, is thrilled about finding new mangrove swamps and building new buildings using the reddish mangrove wood set, and mud blocks.

Minecraft 1.19 is available as a new version within your Minecraft Launcher. It comes with a long list of notes on the patch. Today is also the day that all Minecraft users will have access to both Java or Bedrock versions of Minecraft, even if they previously owned one.
