Teenager Arrested Over Mass Faculty Bomb Hoax

Following a massive bomb hoax that shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK, an alleged teenager at the center of an Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



The 19-year old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after some 24,000 threats were sent to schools warning of an impending bomb attack unless cash was handed over.



The emails were spoofed to make it appear as if the emails had been sent by a gaming network called VeltPvP. VeltPvP is an online Minecraft player-versus-player server is the same type of service that businesses use to sell their products to gamers.

These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were intended to cause the domain's abuse to be suspended.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) has stated that there was no credible threat to the emails received this week.

They acknowledged that they were aware of the concerns of parents and teachers, but stressed that there was not a credible threat from the emails sent to schools.



"However we take the communication seriously. Since this is a live investigation we are unable to comment further.'



The signs were placed on the outside of Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.



Those involved in the feud claimed opponents had engaged in illegal acts to hinder one another's businesses.



'It is horrible and it's not the most pleasant thing', one of the hoaxers involved said when asked whether he regretted the effect the letters had had on the school students who were forced to evacuate.



In blaming VeltPvP, the hoaxer said that the network was involved in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which he claims were employed to try and stop other rival Minecraft servers. Minecraft servers



Following the bomb hoax email threat, parents were told to return their children to their homes.



VeltPvP released a statement that stated that they were being targeted and hounded by cybercriminals.



"We are deeply sorry for anyone who has been affected by this, but we want to let you know that this is not real."



The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and universities across the nation. It claimed that a bomb had already been planted and would explode if the money was not given.

Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who investigated.



Some parents requested to be allowed to collect their children from school amid concerns about the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School and Valley School. Minecraft servers
