In my travel briefcase, I keep a plastic storage bag containing 3-4 flipchart markers, cough drops, tissue and masking tape (to mark off back rows of training rooms). I also keep an extra battery for my presentation remote. These items are always where I need them when I need them.

I went to the book store yesterday and stumbled upon a book I've wanted for ages, Snow White and Rose Red by Patricia C. Wrede. This was first published by Tor (I love their fairly recently launched site, which is awesome because they share all the news in the genre, not just their own news, with a frequently updated site. It's worth a look.) in 1989 and I've been trying to get my hands on it since I discovered Amazon sold out of print books. Unfortunately, it was one of those books that was never available so I just silently pined away. Then yesterday I went to the bookstore and lo! There it was! In the YA section! Recently republished by Firebird, which was nothing short of a brilliant as far as Firebird goes.

A few weeks later we attended a cook out over her house and noticed that my sister in law was glowing with the radiance of a young expectant mother.while eat cheeseburgers like they were going out of style! My wife commented that she guessed the morning sickness had passed, with a nudge and a sarcastic smile. My sister in law then told us that it was the book, "End Morning Sickness" that had helped her so much. She had been so miserable one day that she finally read the Book and used the technique in it and felt better almost immediately!

I will be following the story as best I can as I think the Asian is a beautiful, world-class museum with a marvelous staff, great programs and beautiful art. It could be better but then, what else is now? The Buddha cautions us against desiring perfection in this transitory world and for us to lose this jewel would be crushing. The Ganesh at the top of the escalator is delightful but deserves better than to be sold off at a fire sale by JP Morgan and company. We deserve better and most of all, the Asian Museum deserves a generous deal from its donor base along with somebody to whip back the pit bulls of the banking industry. Haven't they gotten enough?

Get out of the house and go for a walk in the sunshine and fresh air. Your body will produce its own natural happy chemicals and make you feel better about your day. The time you spend out in the quiet could be what you needed to counteract the stressful situations you are trying to avoid.
